Ukrainian Theater of Arizona

The Ukrainian Theater of Arizona was born from an idea first imagined in 2023 and brought to life in 2025.

Created to unite the community, we celebrate Ukrainian culture through theater, creativity, and the arts, support the local Ukrainian diaspora, and raise funds to help Ukraine.

Today, our growing team of talented actors, organizers, and volunteers works together to bring the beauty and richness of Ukrainian culture and its traditions to the stage, creating a lasting legacy for future generations of Ukrainians in Arizona.

Inna Kovtun

Ukrainian Folk Singer • Ethnomusicologist • Folklorist

From the heart of Kyiv, Inna Kovtun brings the ancient voice of Ukraine to the modern stage. A renowned folk singer, ethnomusicologist, and folklorist, Inna has dedicated her entire life to preserving and celebrating the rich tapestry of Ukrainian culture and traditional music.

A laureate of numerous international competitions, Inna has captivated audiences and led workshops around the world — across Europe, Canada, the Baltic States, Turkey, India, Hong Kong, Israel, and beyond. Her performances are a bridge between centuries, blending raw authenticity with deep emotional artistry.

Through years of field research and expeditions, she has collected and preserved over 1,000 authentic songs from Ukrainian, Moldavian, Bulgarian, and Tatar traditions. As artistic director of acclaimed ensembles Rozhanytsia and Kalyna, she has revitalized ancient melodies for new generations while remaining true to their roots.

Since the start of the war in Ukraine, Inna has made her home in the United States, where she continues her mission as a performer, teacher, and cultural ambassador. She has appeared in concert halls and festivals across New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Hawaii, San Diego, New Orleans, and other cities. Now based in Portland, Oregon, Inna is recognized as one of the leading traditional artists and culture bearers in America today, honored as a 2025 Taproot Artist Fellow and artist of the Oregon Folklife Network

Ukrainian Folk Singers

Folk-Music

Ukrainian Folk Singers Olenka Kleban and Tetiana Verezhak present the musical tradition of Rozkoliada ("roz-ko-lya-da" ). Rozkoliada is a cherished Ukrainian custom marking the joyful farewell to the winter holiday cycle. It occurs between Epiphany (January 6) and the Feast of the Presentation (February 2). Communities gather for one final celebration of carols, bidding goodbye to the Christmas spirit until next year. Today, singers Olenka and Tetiana sing us a selection of popular and lesser-known Ukrainian carols from the winter holiday season. Feel free to hum along or clap!
